  • ARRESTED: Driver who led South Congaree police on pursuit in custody

    South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – The driver of a car that failed to pull over for South Congaree Police Major Jonas around 11:00 a.m. Sunday, initiated a pursuit that ended when the driver turned down a dead end road and then fled on foot. The pursuit never reached speeds that exceeded 80 miles-per-hour as the driver fled the police cruiser.   • South Congaree Police Department searching for suspect after pursuit.

    South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – South Congaree police officers, assisted by officers from other agencies, are searching for a white male after he led a South Congaree police officer on a short pursuit. Police Chief Josh Shumpert said that the man led the pursuing cruiser into the Lake Francis area off Ramblin Road before bailed out and disappeared into an area near the lake and the golf course.   • South Congaree becomes Purple Heart City

    South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – The town of South Congaree has become a Purple Heart City. The proclamation was made at the Tuesday meeting of the council. The Purple Heart is awarded in the name of the President of the United States. It is offered to any member of the Armed Forces of the United States who, while serving under competent authority in any capacity with one of the U.S. Armed Services after April 5, 1917 has been wounded or killed.     July 23, 2019 Paul Kirby South Congaree, SC - (Paul Kirby) – The Town of South Congaree has selected their first Royal Court for the South Congaree Rodeo and Creekside Jamboree. This was a pageant where all contestants submitted photos to be judged rather than appear in person.   • Dump truck driver learns from South Congaree PD that tarping loads are important

    South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – A dump truck driver learned the hard way that the Town of South Congaree is serious about cleaning up its streets and keeping them that way.   • South Congaree police officer arrest laundromat crook with good detective work and luck

    South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – South Congaree Police Chief Josh Shumpert said that some good detective work and a little luck helped jail two thieves who had broken into some laundry equipment at the laundromat on Main Street early Tuesday.   • Dump truck loses control, crashes through Cruise In store in South Congaree

    South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – A dump truck travelling from Edmund toward Columbia experienced some sort of difficulty right outside the South Congaree town limits causing it to crash through the front of a store. The accident happened just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. See More at LINK

  • Town of South Congaree listens as they move toward developing a comprehensive plan

    South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Town of South Congaree took a positive step forward in their effort to prepare a comprehensive plan Thursday evening. A comprehensive plan is an important tool for setting and reaching goals for the town’s future development in a positive way. South Congaree town leaders have known for some time they needed an up-to-date plan. Thursday, town business leaders were invited to join elected leaders at the town hall to listen to them about how current and future ordinances will fit into that plan.
